National Express has partnered with Stansted Airport to trial an electric bus with passengers using their airside gate-to-plane operations.
The Cobus 2700 bus can run up to 8 hours a day carrying a maximum of 88 standing passengers. It was introduced over a four-week period to test how it worked and get feedback from drivers and passengers.
The test will gather data to understand how the vehicles work in a real environment and help determine how electric vehicles will be used at Stansted Airport in the future.
Kevin Frazer, South East Operations Director for National Express, explained: ”The transition from diesel to electric vehicles is an adjustment that requires changes to the charging infrastructure, maintenance and driving.
“In preparation for the test, we introduced some new processes and 10 drivers underwent additional training to familiarize themselves with the vehicles.”
National Express’ vision is for the entire UK fleet to be net zero by 2035, ahead of the UK’s 2050 target. This commitment will support Stansted Airport in its 2038 net zero goals.
Steve Mills London Stansted’s surface manager said: “London Stansted is delighted to partner with National Express as we continue to explore new and energy-efficient ways of reducing carbon emissions to strengthen our focus on sustainability. and responsible airport growth.
“We are proud that the operations under our direct control are now carbon neutral, but we are committed to reaching net zero by 2038 so await the results of this test with great interest.”

Original report: Cebu Pacific prioritizes business continuity, tourism
Cebu Pacific (CEB), the leading airline in the Philippines, is committed to investing in more sustainability initiatives to improve the sustainability of its operations and care for the environment and planet at the same time.
CEB — which currently operates the greenest aircraft in the aviation industry, the A330NEO — is aligning its goals with the continuation of global aviation’s commitment to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
After participating earlier this year in the Singapore Airshow as the greenest airline in Asia, CEB established three major pillars of its sustainable journey which is the modernization of the fleet, aiming, among others, to have an all- Neo fleet; resource optimization, which includes pushing for best practices in fuel efficiency; and using SAF by launching green routes by 2025 and using SAF for its entire network by 2030.
CEB is the first domestic airline to incorporate the use of SAF in its operations.
“Cebu Pacific is committed to investing time and resources to become the greenest airline in Asia and one of the greenest in the world. We conduct our business in an ethical manner, with the welfare of our employees, the community, and the environment in mind,” said Cebu Pacific Vice President for Marketing and Customer Experience Candice Iyog when she discussed the sustainability of business and tourism in Cebu Business. Monthly Tourism Summit.
SAF is a “drop-in” substitute for fossil fuels, produced from renewable resources. The use of SAF results in up to an 85% reduction in carbon emissions throughout the SAF lifecycle. The chemical and physical characteristics of SAF are almost identical to conventional jet fuel and it can be safely mixed with regular jet fuel in varying degrees. SAF does not require any adaptation to the aircraft or engine and has no negative impact on performance or maintenance.
“As the name of Cebu, we have this great sense of responsibility in our realignment, strengthening, and reconstruction of tourism that we make it conscious and sustainable as stewards of this planet that we share,” said said Iog.
“Cebu Pacific’s core purpose has always been to give back to the community,” added Iyog.
Throughout 2021, CEB flew more than 648 tons of humanitarian goods for free to support the distribution of essential food and medical supplies to various destinations.
So far, Cebu Pacific has distributed more than 76 million COVID-19 vaccine doses to more than 31 provinces in the country.
In partnership with public and private organizations, CEB was the first airline to respond to the victims of Typhoon Odette that hit a large part of the Visayas-Mindanao area.
CEB brought more than 336 tons of humanitarian and disaster relief throughout the Philippines.
Iyog said that Cebu Pacific firmly believes that no one can achieve sustainable business alone.
“We need to expand our net to include our tourism ecosystem, while at the same time, build a culture within the company so that it becomes part of the daily life of every Juan,” he said.
